I was born the week of Pearl Harbor and I am a great grandmother, a retired therapist (MSW) an ordained non-denominational minister, a professional writer and voiceover artist, a gluten-free vegetarian – and I have had fibromyalgia since I was 58 and some days I achieve greater remission from its symptoms than others.
I suffered from deep clinical depression for most of my life before I was hospitalized in my early 50’s, because of strong urge to commit suicide, and I have since been in gradual recovery. I believe happiness is a choice, but some of us require some intensive education as to the tools that support a happy life and support in using them. These tools include forgiveness, acceptance, gratitude, compassion, agape-love, self-love, self-responsibility, amends, boundaries, laughter, patience, positive expectancy. While my spiritual growth has supported my recovery, I do believe the tools of recovery can be used by anyone who chooses to live a happy life.
I enjoy a quality of life today and a happiness I could never have dreamed of in earlier years.
I choose (most days) to live and write with an open, loving heart. And a smile. (Thank you, Thay.) The days where that is not true is where my work lies, as Ram Dass says. That does not mean I have anything at all figured out, except that the The Love and Peace of God expressing through my open heart is my GPS system – and that when I use the tools of recovery I am blessed with a happy life…
My Intention: I write to share the love and challenges and wisdom gained over my many years on the planet, and those of my current journey, in the hopes someone besides me also benefits.
But I am a writer, so sometimes I write for just the sheer joy of writing. I write because writing is my craft and I write to know what I think. The words flowing from my fingertips seem to come from another place than my everyday thoughts. I even recall words I had forgotten I knew. My hope is that you, the reader, find enjoyment, inspiration, solace, humor, or a new perspective from my words. I hope you will join the conversation. I would like to know you too.
Love and Blessings,
